Until the software applications came in which made our work digital, all work in the world was analog as we know it. Let us talk a little about software application development. It has a development lifecycle, one of the longest in the IT industry. Software application development projects usually result in having an interface screen that exchanges information successfully between the user and the server. It is automation from an analog world to a digital world in the majority of the use cases. On the other hand, modernized RPA development projects could average out to 3-4 weeks and beyond 2 months in rare cases. Imagine a helping hand developed to use various interfaces clubbed with cross-application tasks, at your scheduled times or events. That is what our robots exactly do – they write their own diaries to record what they did, when they did it, how they did, or why they did not do it. Precisely speaking, our robots double up the digital quotient in the journey of digital transformation. We will not call RPA as digital fast food because that is some sort of malware. Instead, RPA projects are like protein shakes for quick-money experiences in highly growth-aspiring companies.
Specialist RPA companies tend to synchronize less for the two development lifecycles discussed above. The development lifecycle of an RPA project may grammatically sound similar. But if we had to compare them in technical terms the differences lay wide apart. Firstly, because we are dealing with the automation of one or more processes. A process is a set of various tasks. A single malfunction in process management could throw businesses out of order in absolutely no time. A single miscalculation in the noon could bring down the brand before the Intraday stocks are squared-off. That is why it is important that you focus on the vendor’s process management expertise. Processes have their own variants, and only an expert RPA Company could deliver you the robots you can rely on even over the weekends and vacations.
Terms like process engineering, process re-engineering, process mining for process discovery, process design, process re-designing, etc. have long existed. Throwing the dice to pick the best term is not always safe. Remember that robots will inherit the process management experience from the creators. Regardless of how technically best and efficient the robots are, situations like process failures, process delays, etc. could take the robots off-track leaving the business in limbo. Having highly trained and experienced personnel developing your future robots may attain your intended automation goals for the long term, even though it may mean paying a little more than average.
We have so far seen how a) cost overruns due to synchronized lifecycles and b) process expertise are the two key pillars while identifying a good RPA vendor for your next automation project. The third and most critical factor is the lights-on costs to keep the automation going. Finding out if there are / would be any hidden costs is a good point to start with if you want to ensure an accurate annual estimation. Lastly, if a software development project goes wrong you incur fewer losses by calling off the project and hunting for a new vendor. But if you wish to change the vendor midway on an RPA project, it is more difficult given that your ‘real processes’ are in play and not necessarily the ‘test processes.’
That said, Wyzbo is an emerging RPA solution provider that will not only help you save your licensing cost but will also help you save manual efforts on non-RPA Apps through RPA. Drop us a line at info@wyzbo.com or fill out the form here for a quick RPA demo.
